Job summary

The University of Georgia Special Collections Library is seeking a Processing Specialist to accession and process diverse collections, supervise student workers, and provide reference services. The role supports the Library’s mission to acquire, organize, preserve, and provide access to Georgia’s special materials.

Responsibilities include processing per DACS/EAD standards, training staff, and contributing to outreach while maintaining strict privacy and security of records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with processing accessioning and description of collections.
• Ability to supervise and train student assistants.
• Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing collections by organizing and describing materials per DACS standards.
• Supervise and train student assistants.
• Provide reference services at the library reference desk and reading room.
• Assist with donations and special processing projects as needed.
• Engage in team activities and adapt to department changes.
