Responsibilities

The position offers a unique and challenging experience for a highly motivated individual. The office is seeking an attorney to join the Criminal Division, handling the investigation and prosecution of misdemeanor and felony cases.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member in good standing of the Rhode Island bar, eligible to waive into the Rhode Island Bar, or have taken the Rhode Island Bar Exam this summer.
  • Superior writing skills, good judgment, excellent communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to work professionally with attorneys, support staff, law enforcement, and the public.
  • Computer literacy and aptitude for learning new computer programs.
  • Willingness to undergo a full background investigation, including reference checks.
About the Office

The Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General is the state’s top legal and law enforcement authority, dedicated to protecting the public and serving the interests of Rhode Island. Attorneys in the office handle civil and criminal cases, including complex and violent crimes, functioning similarly to a large district attorney’s office.
