Job summary

Mid American Credit Union in Wichita, KS is seeking a Collections Specialist to support member accounts and ensure timely resolution of delinquencies.

You will work with several computer systems, communicate with members by phone and mail, and adhere to BSA/AML policies. This on-site role emphasizes accuracy, empathy, and strong communication to protect our members and credit union.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: six months to two years in customer service with empathy and strong communication.
• Additional skills: attention to detail, multitasking, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs member servicing by using several computerized systems for member verification
• Contact delinquent accounts and negative share accounts by phone and mail
• Take appropriate action to have members bring accounts current
• Analyze financial situation of delinquent borrowers
• Make recommendations for further action when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful
• Maintain accurate files and reports on all collections activity
• Inform supervisor of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charge off loans
• Regularly file loan files and other collection related documents
• Completes and adheres to annual training regarding BSA/AML compliance
• Completes periodic training pertaining to updates in policies and procedures

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to lift 10 pounds


• Climate-controlled shared work area with standard levels of office noise and minimal fluctuation in temperature. Employees will be expected to sit, stand, stoop, and walk while performing the duties of this job.


• Interactions with members and coworkers include telephone and some video calls, in addition to in-person interfacing.
