Job summary

John Jay College of Criminal Justice seeks a full-time Lecturer in Spanish Translation & Interpreting for Fall 2027. The position is tenure-bearing through a Certificate of Continuous Employment after the sixth annual reappointment, with potential promotion to Senior Lecturer after eight years of service.

Requirements include a Master’s degree in Translation and/or Interpreting Studies or related field and the ability to teach in two areas (Spanish translation, interpreting, or heritage

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Translation and/or Interpreting Studies or related discipline with focus in translation/interpreting.
• Ability to teach in two of: Spanish translation (general/legal), Spanish interpreting (general/legal), Spanish for heritage learners at all undergrad levels.
• Ph.D. candidates (including ABDs) are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Teach Spanish translation and interpreting for undergraduate instruction at multiple levels.
• Possibly teach Spanish language courses (L2) in undergraduate programs.
• Contribute to service and teaching excellence in a multicultural department.
