POSITION TITLE: Spanish Teacher

Job Description

Instruct students in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language, and develop their understanding of the associated culture.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, maintaining written evidence of preparation.
  • Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and regulations.
  • Use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials tailored to students' needs.
  • Assess student learning styles and use results to inform instruction.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
  • Coordinate with staff to set instructional goals and methods.
  • Supervise assignments of aides and volunteers.
  • Utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Assist students in improving study methods.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and serve as a sponsor if assigned.
  • Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage student behavior per district policies.
  • Ensure safety and proper use of equipment and materials.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and staff.
  • Uphold professional relationships with colleagues, students, and community.
  • Participate in staff development and comply with policies.
  • Maintain required reports and records.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Virtual Instruction Duties
  • Integrate district-approved online platforms into lessons.
  • Plan and evaluate lessons during standard and irregular hours.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
  • Follow professional responsibilities and deadlines.
  • Create a conducive virtual classroom environment.
  • Provide additional support through small groups or tutoring.
  • Participate in district meetings and professional development.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years teaching the target language in a school setting.
  • Travel experience to a country where the language is spoken.
  • Experience as a foreign language club sponsor.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification with endorsements for the assigned subject/level.
Skills
  • Ability to facilitate oral proficiency in the target language.
  • Team participation and coordination skills.
  • Supervision skills for language clubs and activities.
Additional Information

Maintain emotional control under stress, work irregular hours, and handle physical demands of the classroom environment.
