POSITION TITLE: Spanish Teacher
Job Description
Instruct students in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language, and develop their understanding of the associated culture.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, maintaining written evidence of preparation.
- Prepare lessons accommodating different student learning styles.
- Present subject matter following guidelines from the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and regulations.
- Use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, and materials tailored to students' needs.
- Assess student learning styles and use results to inform instruction.
- Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
- Coordinate with staff to set instructional goals and methods.
- Supervise assignments of aides and volunteers.
- Utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning.
- Assist students in improving study methods.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and serve as a sponsor if assigned.
- Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage student behavior per district policies.
- Ensure safety and proper use of equipment and materials.
- Assist in selecting instructional materials.
- Maintain open communication with parents and staff.
- Uphold professional relationships with colleagues, students, and community.
- Participate in staff development and comply with policies.
- Maintain required reports and records.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Virtual Instruction Duties
- Integrate district-approved online platforms into lessons.
- Plan and evaluate lessons during standard and irregular hours.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Follow professional responsibilities and deadlines.
- Create a conducive virtual classroom environment.
- Provide additional support through small groups or tutoring.
- Participate in district meetings and professional development.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years teaching the target language in a school setting.
- Travel experience to a country where the language is spoken.
- Experience as a foreign language club sponsor.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certification with endorsements for the assigned subject/level.
Skills
- Ability to facilitate oral proficiency in the target language.
- Team participation and coordination skills.
- Supervision skills for language clubs and activities.
Additional Information
