Job summary

Woodhaven High School in the Woodhaven-Brownstown School District is seeking a Spanish Teacher to deliver daily lessons aligned with the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks and high school content expectations.

The ideal candidate holds a valid Michigan teaching certificate in Spanish (FF) for grades 6–12, a bachelor’s degree, and has student teaching, internship, or full‑time teaching experience in secondary Spanish, plus strong collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide developmentally appropriate and differentiated language instruction for diverse learners.
• Provide high quality language instruction that integrates culturally authentic learning.
• Effectively uses class time for listening and learning.
• Organizes learning activities to provide varied classroom activities aligned with educational goals and objectives.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to provide an orderly and productive environment.
• Evaluates each student's performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress reports.
• Selects and requisitions instructional materials, books, etc., and maintains inventory records.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
• Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress.
• Designs lessons that have real world application and contextual learning in Career Pathways.
• Other duties assigned by administration when needed.
• Possibility of teaching higher level Spanish courses like Spanish 3, Spanish 4 and AP Spanish.

The teacher has the responsibility for using the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks, Standards and Benchmarks, and high school Content Expectations to teach daily lessons to students at the secondary level.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate in Spanish (FF), grades 6-12, required. Additional credentialed areas preferred.
• Bachelor's degree, including all courses to meet credential requirements.
• Student teaching, internship, or full-time teaching experience in secondary Spanish.
