Job summary

ICA Language Services seeks experienced Post-DLPT Spanish instructors to teach DOD professionals on-site at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA. Local candidates with at least two years of intensive-language teaching experience are required.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering instruction, developing materials, administering evaluations, and coordinating with supervisory staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of full-time experience teaching adult language learners in an intensive setting (4-6 hours a day).
• Experience teaching post-DLPT or similar advanced-level language programs.
• Experience teaching U.S. military or government language learners.
• OPI minimum requirements: Spanish ILR Level 4 or ACTFL Superior; English ILR Level 2 or ACTFL Advanced.
• Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered language assessments.
• Working knowledge of ILR and/or ACTFL proficiency scales.
• Experience integrating instructional technology into language teaching and assessment.
• Experience using online platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or Webex in teaching.

• Integrate instructional technology and online learning resources to support independent learning.
• Adapt instruction to meet individual learner needs, learning styles, and mission-related language requirements.
• Perform related instructional and administrative duties in support of the program.
• Assign homework tailored to the students’ needs and designed to reinforce daily learning.
• Provide exposure to appropriate skill development, idiom, and variant.

The candidates should be local to the Monterey, CA, area and have at least 2 years of experience teaching Spanish to adult students on an intensive basis (6-8 hours daily).

Security & Access
