Job summary

Siouxland Community Health Center is seeking an Interpreter - Spanish for a fulltime role in our Sioux City clinic. The position emphasizes translation and interpretation to support Spanish-speaking patients throughout clinical visits.

The successful candidate will provide translation services for patients and staff, assist with intake forms and social service processes, and travel to local agencies as needed.

Qualifications

• Fluent bilingual communication in Spanish and English.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to diminish barriers for patients and SCHC.
• Knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

• Provide translation services and support the non-English speaking patients and their families during their clinical visit
• Works directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff
• Assists patients in completing all necessary intake forms at initial visit, including demographic and medical history and financial verification
• Assists social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process
• Travel to local agencies or hospitals to provide interpreting services as needed
• These functions are not all inclusive

• Knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish and in English
• High school diploma or GED

INTERPRETER - SPANISH

Successful candidate must be able to perform primary functions of position:

• Provide translation services and support the non-English speaking patients and their families during their clinical visit
• Works directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff
• Assists patients in completing all necessary intake forms at initial visit, including but not limited to, demographic and medical history, and financial verification
• Assists social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process
• Travel to local agencies or hospitals to provide interpreting services as needed
• These functions are not all inclusive
