Advocate Health in Concord, NC is seeking a skilled Spanish language healthcare interpreter for a full-time role at Atrium Health Cabarrus, Concord. The position supports in-person, telephone and video interpreting, with a 32-hour weekly schedule on Tue/Wed/Sat/Sun from 8am to 4:30pm.

Required: high school diploma, 1 year related experience, and knowledge of medical terminology; 40 hours of interpreter training preferred; national certification preferred. Competitive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 40 hours of medical interpreter training preferred.
• High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 1-year related experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience in a healthcare setting is required.
• National medical interpreter certification preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of language assessment and 40-hour medical interpretation training within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Proactively responds to requests for language access in a healthcare setting.
• Interprets in-person, telephone and video modalities and basic translation.
• Maintains relationships with internal customers and manages interpreter modalities to contain costs.
• Interprets patient education, appointments, discharge instructions and procedures.
• Educates caregivers on patient culture and medical context.
• Follows professional conduct standards and department guidelines.
