Job summary

The University of Delaware Associate in Arts Program seeks a student-centered instructor to teach in-person introductory Spanish courses in spring 2027. Candidates must be able to teach in Dover and/or Georgetown.

Education requirements include a Master’s degree in Spanish (Ph.D. preferred) with native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Prior college-level teaching in the US and adaptable, collaborative teaching skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Spanish, language-related field, or closely related area.
• Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English (ACTFL Superior or CEFR C1).
• Prior college-level Spanish teaching experience in the US.
• Familiarity with current best practices in second language acquisition and intercultural competence.

Responsibilities

• Teach in-person introductory Spanish courses at the Dover/Dover–Georgetown campus.
• Deliver student-centered, communicative-based instruction. Collaborate with colleagues to advance student outcomes.
• Hold one hour of student/office hours per week for each course taught.
• Incorporate technology to enhance learning and engage diverse learners.
