Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Structural Engineer to design and certify stage structures, including the Stage1 Tank. You will lead the full design cycle, manage CAD definitions, and coordinate with procurement and test teams to ensure on-time vehicle build and flight readiness.

The role requires 5+ years engineering experience, solid FEA and 3D CAD skills, and hands-on production floor exposure. Travel 0–20% to FL sites may be required.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical, structural, or other relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years of professional engineering experience.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics of materials, stress/strain, statics, and finite element analysis.
• Experience with large primary or secondary structures.
• Experience with material selection, compatibility, and metallic manufacturing techniques.
• Familiarity with GD&T and design for manufacturability.
• Strong 3D CAD design and integration skills.
• Strong product data management (PDM) skills (e.g. Windchill, TeamCenter).
• Hands-on experience on production floor or in service.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering scope from planning to test and release.
• Own end-to-end design cycle of structure components.
• Develop and maintain CAD and drawing definition package.
• Support procurement activities to meet build schedules.
• Support testing objectives, data review and reporting.
• Perform emergent analysis for non-conformances.
• Participate in subsystem level testing and data analysis.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams across sites.
