Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California seeks a Mechanical Systems Engineer to lead mechanical hardware development for spaceflight missions. You will design, analyze, and document hardware, and support verification activities across proposal, concept, detailed design, integration, and flight operations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) with 3+ years of experience, plus CAD/FEA skills and experience translating requirements into hardware

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with required experience.
  • Experience with mechanical hardware development and verification for spaceflight projects.
  • Ability to translate requirements into hardware configurations and development plans.

Responsibilities

  • Support mechanical hardware development and engineering activities across mission phases.
  • Perform design, analysis, and generate engineering documentation for hardware products.
  • Contribute to trade studies, verification & validation activities, and interfaces.
  • Ensure delivered products meet technical requirements and commitments.
  • Assist in cost and schedule estimation and planning of components.
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and collaborate across teams.
