Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach, CA is seeking a Tooling/Ground Support Engineering Intern to support tooling, fixturing, and ground support equipment for high-performance spacecraft. You will collaborate with designers, analysts, and engineers on hardware development and testing, applying CAD and metrology skills.

The 12-week internship runs May/June to August/September 2027, with on-site work and opportunities to contribute to rapid, hands-on projects in a fast-paced space environment.

Qualifications

• Completion or working towards an engineering or science degree.
• Ability to take project ownership and work in a small team.
• Fundamental understanding of mechanics, materials and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Support design and implementation of tooling, fixturing, and ground support equipment.
• Create and update CAD models, drawings, and assemblies for tooling and support equipment.
• Assist in developing test equipment and fixtures for flight hardware validation.
• Collaborate with designers, analysts and engineers on hardware prototyping.
• Work with manufacturing and supply chain to move tooling from design to fabrication.
• Assist hands-on assembly, testing, troubleshooting and modification of tooling.
• Apply metrology techniques for inspection and measurement of hardware.
• Resolve technical challenges with speed and resourcefulness.
