Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Spacecraft Thermal Engineer I to oversee the thermal design, analysis, testing and validation of space vehicles. You’ll perform thermal modeling and data analysis, collaborating with test and design engineers to capture thermal performance and suggest design improvements.

This role requires a bachelor’s in aerospace/mechanical engineering, hands-on thermal experience, and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering or other engineering degree.
• Thermal engineering experience.
• U.S. citizenship required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete thermal modeling and analysis of vehicles.
• Conduct thermal design trade studies balancing performance, resources, risk, cost, and schedule.
• Identify and resolve thermal design issues for space vehicle components.
• Design and execute thermal tests for space vehicle components.
• Perform thermal model validation using test and flight data.
• Liaise with program and engineering staff on thermal design and tests.
• Research potential vendors of thermal control materials.
