Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is hiring a Spacecraft Thermal Engineer I to oversee thermal design, analysis, testing, and validation of space vehicles. You will perform thermal modeling and interact with design and test engineers to improve thermal performance for space systems.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in aerospace or mechanical engineering, experience in thermal engineering, and U.S. citizenship; advanced degrees are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering (or other engineering degree).
• Thermal engineering experience required.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform thermal modeling and analysis of space vehicles.
• Conduct thermal design trade studies balancing performance, resources, risk, cost and schedule.
• Identify and resolve thermal design issues for space vehicle components and assemblies.
• Design and execute thermal tests for space vehicle components and assemblies.
• Validate thermal models using test and in-flight data.
• Collaborate with program and engineering staff on thermal design and testing.
