Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector seeks a Mechanical Structures Engineer – Level 2 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This on-site role supports mechanical, systems, structural and design engineering on spacecraft structures and subsystems, with a 9/80 schedule and every other Friday off.

The candidate will perform CAD-based design, GD&T, and materials-related tasks, interfacing with customers and suppliers while traveling<10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience or Master’s with 0 years.
• Ability to work on-site at Dulles or Colshire campus.
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain government clearance.

Responsibilities

• Work on Spacecraft Structures, Payload, and Antenna mechanical hardware from requirements through integration and test.
• Perform detailed CAD-based design documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
• Interfacing with customers, program and functional management, and suppliers.
• Develop test plans and support structural testing at component and spacecraft levels.
• Provide technical solutions to a range of problems under supervision.
• Apply GD&T, 3D printing, DFM, and materials knowledge to designs.
