Job summary

Rocket Lab’s Space Systems division in Long Beach, CA seeks a Spacecraft Structural Analysis Engineer II to define loads, validate analyses, and guide design improvements for spacecraft and subsystems. You’ll work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe, reliable performance in space.

The role requires the ability to perform advanced FEM, dynamic simulations, and close collaboration with design/test engineers; U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• 2+ years of structural analysis experience in aerospace.

Responsibilities

• Define, interpret, and validate static and dynamic loads and test data.
• Perform structural analyses of primary and secondary vehicle structures (FEM verification, material selection, mass optimization).
• Perform static, modal, random vibration, buckling, and thermoelastic simulations.
• Collaborate with design and test engineers to iterate concepts and ensure structural margins.
