Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Spacecraft Propulsion Components Engineer II to own propulsion system development and component-level ownership for space systems.

You will lead end-to-end development, perform CAD designs, data analysis, and testing, while coordinating with stakeholders and guiding junior engineers. A strong engineering background and a security clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in propulsion system development or a similar high-performance domain.
  • US citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Own development of new or existing propulsion products or systems, acting as technical lead through end-to-end development.
  • Create conceptual and detailed CAD designs for propulsion components and perform performance calculations and analyses.
  • Review and approve drawings, 3D PMI, reports, and specifications.
  • Plan tests, set up instrumentation, execute tests, and analyze data.
  • Communicate with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Make technical risk-based decisions to select best solutions.
  • Manage project schedules, prioritize tasks, and report status to leadership.
