Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Propulsion Components Engineer II responsible for system-level and component-level propulsion development. You will lead end-to-end engineering efforts, design propulsion components in CAD, and review specifications while coordinating with stakeholders and managing risk.

The role requires a STEM degree, 2+ years in propulsion, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in propulsion system development or other high-performance field.
  • US citizenship is required, due to program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Own development of new or existing products or systems, acting as technical lead.
  • Create conceptual and detailed CAD designs for propulsion components.
  • Review drawings, 3D PMI, reports and specifications for correctness.
  • Plan tests, set up instrumentation, run tests and analyze data.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on technical status.
  • Make risk-based technical decisions and guide solutions.
  • Manage project schedules, priorities, and delivery with leadership teams.
  • Mentor team members on technical and professional growth.
  • Maintain standards of excellence through documentation and training.
