Apex Technology, Inc. seeks a motivated Power Electronics/Embedded Systems intern for a 12-week program in Los Angeles. You'll contribute to spacecraft power electronics testing and hardware development, under a dedicated mentor, with hands-on design, simulation, and bench work.

The role emphasizes learning through real projects, exposure to aerospace engineering, and collaboration with a passionate team. Fall 2027 or Spring 2028 graduates encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduating Fall 2027 or Spring 2028; MS graduates preferred.
• Pursuing a BS or MS in Power Electronics or Embedded Systems or Control.
• Proficiency in LT Spice, Altium, MathWorks, C2000 microcontrollers.
• Preferred coursework: Introduction to Power Electronics, Linear/Continuous Control, Motor Drives.
• Preferred Extracurricular Activities: Student Project Teams, e.g. Formula SAE.
• Note: Spring interns should pause or adjust academic commitments for the duration.

Responsibilities

• Design, Build, and Testing non-isolated and isolated power converters for high reliability space applications; may include motor controller work.
• Simulation of the power stage in SPICE.
• Modeling the plant and designing the controller for a given topology and control technique.
• Schematic capture and component selection for the converter.
• Layout using Altium and optimized component placement.
• Bench top testing of circuits at the board level with lab equipment.
• EMI/EMC testing and control loop verification for power converters.
• Analog or digital control loop tuning.
