Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. in Playa Vista, CA is seeking a qualified Power Electronics/Embedded Systems intern to join our 12-week aerospace internship.

You’ll work closely with the engineering team on real spacecraft power electronics projects, under a dedicated mentor, with hands-on design, simulation, and testing tasks. You'll gain experience in power converter design, SPICE simulations, schematic capture, PCB layout in Altium, and hardware bench testing, with opportunities to learn from

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS or MS in Power Electronics, Embedded Systems, or Control.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test power converters for space applications.
• Simulation of the power stage in SPICE.
• Modeling the plant and designing the controller for a given topology and control technique.
• Schematic capture and component selection.
• Layout in Altium and interconnection optimization.
• Bench-top testing the circuits at the board level with lab equipment.
• Specialized power converter testing, EMI/EMC and control loop verification.
• Control loop tuning in analog or digital domains.
• Note: Spring interns should be available to pause or adjust academic commitments for the duration of the program.
