Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Mechanisms Launch Base Engineer to support final integration, inspection, verification, and launch-site readiness of spacecraft mechanical systems and launch vehicle interfaces. You will perform hands-on engineering in a fast-paced launch environment, ensuring safety, quality, and configuration control.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related engineering field, plus 3+ years in aerospace hardware, with experience in mechanical and electrical integration and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience performing hardware inspections, integration activities and torque-controlled operations.
  • Experience with electrical connectors, harnesses or flight-like interfaces and continuity testing.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, ICDs, specs and test procedures.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and engineering documentation in regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, hardware verification and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final flight inspections of spacecraft mechanisms and separation systems.
  • Install and verify separation hardware and flight interfaces.
  • Conduct final flight electrical connector mating operations and verify continuity.
  • Execute mechanical and electrical verification testing and document results for certification.
  • Carry out continuity, interface verification and loopback checks during launch integration.
  • Maintain Safe-to-Mate processes, inspections, and traceability.
