Astranis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for Winter 2027 to join our spacecraft hardware team in Northern California. Interns work twelve weeks on challenging problems, designing, building, and testing hardware and software for space missions.

You will gain real, hands-on experience that contributes to our first satellite and beyond. The role emphasizes hardware development, CAD familiarity, and a passion for space engineering, with advancement opportunities as projects progress.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent technical degree.
• Hands-on hardware development experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to design, build, and test hardware from scratch.

Responsibilities

• Work with the engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and/or software.
• Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test structure, bracketry, and mechanisms for spacecraft.
• Include composite and metallic parts and assemblies with various manufacturing techniques.
• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for spacecraft systems.
• Integrate parts and systems into the spacecraft and document build procedures.
