Job summary

Astranis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern for Spring 2027 in Northern California. Interns work with the engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software, and to design structures and mechanisms for spacecraft.

You will perform mechanical/thermal analyses and help integrate parts into the spacecraft while documenting build processes. Internships at Astranis are twelve weeks, hourly roles for students enrolled at a four-year university.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent technical degree
• Hands-on hardware design and testing experience
• Interest in space hardware development

Responsibilities

• Work with the engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and/or software
• Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test structure, bracketry, and mechanisms for spacecraft components
• Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for spacecraft systems
• Integrate parts and systems into the spacecraft and document/build processes for future improvements
