Job summary

General Galactic designs, builds, and flies advanced spacecraft. This Mechanical Engineer role focuses on critical spacecraft structures and systems, with ownership over design, analysis, and hardware integration across the product suite.

You will move between first-principles analysis, detailed mechanical design, hardware build, testing operations, and data review, with opportunities to expand responsibilities as the company grows.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 2+ years designing, analyzing, building, or testing aerospace hardware.
• Strong fundamentals in robotics, dynamics, materials science, and mechanical design.
• Hands-on experience with flight or test hardware.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical system design, component selection, and integration for spacecraft vehicles and ground hardware.
• Design and integrate mechatronic systems supporting vehicle functions.
• Develop simulations, calculations, and models to guide design decisions.
• Create CAD models, drawings, interface definitions, assembly/test procedures, and documentation.
• Plan, execute, and troubleshoot testing of structural systems.
