Job summary

Cowboy Space Corporation seeks a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 in Kent, Washington. You will work alongside spacecraft engineers on mechanical systems enabling our orbital solar power satellites, touching on structural design, thermal management, assembly, integration, and test.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Coursework or hands-on project experience in mechanical design, structural analysis, or thermal systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and analysis of structural, mechanical, or thermal subsystems using CAD tools and engineering analysis methods.
  • Assist in developing and executing test plans for mechanical hardware, including structural, vibration, thermal, or deployment testing.
  • Participate in the build, integration, and assembly of flight or engineering development hardware in the lab.
  • Analyze test data and generate technical reports summarizing findings, anomalies, and design recommendations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, and systems engineering teams to resolve integration issues.
  • Support fabrication and machine shop activities, including reviewing drawings and coordinating with machinists or vendors.
  • Help maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, test procedures, and design change requests.
  • Present findings and progress updates to the engineering team throughout the internship.
