Job summary

K2 Space Corporation seeks a senior Mechanisms Manufacturing Engineer to drive design-for-excellence (DFX) for flight hardware and to build scalable production flows for high-rate spacecraft mechanisms.

You will lead development of manufacturing systems for actuators, gimbals, and reaction wheels, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with Mechanisms and Design teams to push manufacturing innovations into production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or other relevant engineering discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in a high volume, rapid production environment in manufacturing, integration, and/or design engineering.
• Strong understanding of mechanisms standards and design-for-manufacturability concepts.
• Experience with GD&T and review of electrical and mechanical designs.
• Familiarity with CAD and MES systems for production environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design-for-excellence (DFX) guidance to design teams for mechanisms, machined components, and assemblies.
• Lead the development of innovative manufacturing systems for spacecraft mechanisms (rotational actuators, separators, gimbals, reaction wheels).
• Create custom tools and processes to support manufacturing technologies, including MES software.
• Demonstrate advanced manufacturing techniques on prototypes and improve manufacturability.
• Build test articles and support development and qualification campaigns.
• Develop subassembly build flow and scalable production flow to meet takt times.
• Mentor junior manufacturing engineers and technicians and lead R&D of novel manufacturing technologies.
