Job summary

Rocket Lab USA in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Harness Design Engineer II to design electrical harnesses for spacecraft, organize interfaces, select connectors and back shells, and generate BOMs and documentation for CAD handoff to the spacecraft engineering team.

You will also support avionics design, develop test plans for subsystems, optimize circuits for performance and reliability, and participate in reviews as a representative of the avionics team within a cross-disciplinary environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering; or other engineering degree.
2+ years of electrical engineering or avionics experience
U.S citizenship required, due to program requirements

Responsibilities

Design harness layouts, connectors, wires, and shielding for spacecraft.
Create pinout tables for harness connectors at both ends of the assembly.
Maintain BOMs for harnessing in the PLM tool.
Create documentation for electrical system schematics and harness designs.
Develop test plans for avionics subsystems and components.
Optimize spacecraft avionics circuits for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Participate in internal design and customer-facing review meetings as a representative of the avionics electrical engineering team.
Work in multi-disciplinary teams to assist in the design of electronic assemblies for satellite and spacecraft programs.
