Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Harness Design Engineer II to lead the design, development, and integration of electrical harnesses for our spacecraft. You will define interfaces, select components, specify locations, and generate design documentation to support the engineering team.

You’ll work across systems engineering, mechanical engineering, and AIT to ensure seamless harness integration, comply with space-grade standards, and support fabrication from design to test.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering or related field.
• 8+ years electrical engineering or avionics experience required.
• Experience with harness design tools such as Capital Essentials, NX, Teamcenter preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical harness systems for spacecraft, including connector and backshell selection, wire routing, and shielding.
• Generate wiring diagrams, pinout tables, and interface definitions based on spacecraft interconnect diagrams.
• Collaborate with systems engineering to interpret architecture and define electrical interfaces.
• Create and maintain BOMs for harness systems in the PLM tool.
• Develop fabrication drawings and documentation using Capital Essentials, NX, and Teamcenter.
• Support harness fabrication, ensuring compliance with space-grade standards.
• Define and verify harness acceptance criteria, including electrical testing and inspection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of harnesses into spacecraft.
• Perform electrical design and analysis to meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and troubleshoot harness-related issues during fabrication and testing.
