Job summary

Rocket Lab, based in Long Beach, CA, seeks a Harness Design Engineer I/II to design electrical harnesses for spacecraft, select components, and generate design documentation for CAD modeling. You will support avionics circuit design, prototyping, and testing with the avionics team.

The role can be filled at Engineer I or II level depending on experience, involving BOM creation, harness documentation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration on satellite programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering; or other engineering degree.
• Experience with electrical engineering or avionics.

Responsibilities

• Perform harness layout, connector and back shell selection, wire selection, and shielding for spacecraft.
• Generate pinout tables for harness connectors at both ends of the assembly based on spacecraft interconnect diagrams
• Responsible for creating and maintaining BOMs for harnessing in our PLM tool
• Assist in creating documentation for electrical system schematics and harness designs
• Develop test plans and procedures for avionics subsystems and components
• Perform analysis to optimize spacecraft avionics circuits for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
• Participate in design and customer review meetings as a representative of the avionics electrical engineering team
• Work in multi-disciplinary teams to design electronic assemblies for satellite and spacecraft programs
