Job summary

Katalyst Space in Colorado is hiring an Electrical Engineer to design and qualify spacecraft EPS power systems. You will work on power conversion, distribution, battery interfaces, and EMI-aware layouts, collaborating with test engineers to verify performance across nominal and fault conditions.

You’ll plan stress and margin tests, help define system improvements, and support hardware bring-up with avionics and subsystems in a high-reliability space environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent field.
  • 3+ years designing, testing, or integrating high-reliability power systems.
  • Strong switch-mode power supply and DC/DC converter knowledge.
  • Experience drafting schematics and PCB layouts for power electronics.
  • Proficiency with Altium and EMI/EMC-aware layout practices.
  • Hands-on hardware bring-up, bench testing, and debugging.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to design, iteration, and qualification of spacecraft EPS power system.
  • Design, modify, and review schematics and PCB layouts for power electronics.
  • Support EPS hardware integration in functional, performance, and qualification tests.
  • Own integrated functional testing with avionics and subsystems across fault cases.
  • Plan stress, margin, and performance testing across design extremes.
  • Define design changes and architecture improvements for future EPS.
