Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose, California seeks an Environmental Test Engineering Intern to support planning, setup, and analysis of spacecraft environmental tests. You will work with a team of engineers and technicians, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship while contributing to successful integration and launch campaigns.

The role focuses on preparing hardware, running tests, collecting data, and helping develop procedures in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or related field.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanics, thermal systems, dynamics, instrumentation or electrical systems.
• Interest in spacecraft environmental testing and hardware development.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB/Simulink, Julia, or C++ for data analysis or test automation.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of spacecraft environmental testing (thermal vacuum, vibration, acoustic).
• Support test setup and instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Prepare spacecraft hardware, fixtures, and ground support equipment for campaigns.
• Execute functional checkouts and test procedures under supervision.
• Monitor tests, identify anomalies, and assist root-cause investigations.
• Collect and preliminarily analyze environmental test data.
• Develop and improve test procedures and lab workflows.
• Assist with configuration and operation of environmental test equipment.
• Support automation and scripting for test setup and data analysis.
• Generate test documentation and data summaries under guidance.
