Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) invites undergraduates to join its FORGE software engineering team in Logan, Utah. The Student Software Engineer will gain hands-on experience evaluating and improving a complex software system used in mission-critical environments, working with Python, Linux, and enterprise technologies.

The role offers hands-on exposure to Linux, virtualization, containers, CI/CD, and collaboration with software, systems, and infrastructure engineers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in CS/Software Engineering at Utah State University.
• At least one year remaining in degree.
• Proficient in Python and basic software development concepts.
• Willing to learn new languages, tools, and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop Python scripts, utilities, and automation for software evaluation, testing, and deployment.
• Perform evaluation tests; collect, analyze, document, and present results.
• Assist with software integration and testing activities.
• Troubleshoot software, application, and infrastructure issues under supervision.
• Work with Linux-based systems and enterprise technologies (RHEL, VMware, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Assist with automated deployments, CI/CD processes, and test infrastructure.
