Job summary

Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) seeks an undergraduate Student Software Engineer to join the software engineering team in Logan, Utah. You will gain hands‑on experience supporting a complex software system used in a DoD mission environment and collaborate with engineers across software, systems, and infrastructure disciplines.

The role emphasizes Python, Linux, automation, containerized applications, virtualization, and software deployment, with training provided.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
At least one year remaining in studies.
Proficiency with Python and hands‑on programming experience.

Responsibilities

Develops Python scripts, utilities, and automation to support software evaluation, testing, deployment, and other repeatable engineering activities.
Performs application and system evaluation tests; collects, analyzes, documents, and presents results.
Assists with software integration and testing activities.
Troubleshoots software, applications, and infrastructure issues under guidance from experienced engineers.
Gains experience with Linux-based systems and enterprise technologies such as RHEL, VMware, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
