Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team supporting NASA space exploration initiatives. You will analyze requirements, design and test mechanical systems, and produce detailed drawings for thermal vacuum facilities.

Collaboration with NASA and internal teams is essential to deliver reliable space hardware across multiple design reviews. You will coordinate with engineers and technicians, oversee drawings, and ensure compliance with JPR 8500 and related standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Ability to visualize and work with complex mechanical systems and collaborate in problem solving as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements from customers and develop design solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and analyze technical products and systems.
  • Perform engineering designs and evaluations for thermal vacuum space simulation testing.
  • Produce engineering drawings conforming to JPR 8500 and other standards.
  • Troubleshoot facility systems and instruct technicians on repair solutions.
  • Coordinate with NASA Pressure Systems to complete design reviews.
  • Prepare and present designs at design reviews.
  • Prepare work authorizing documents for hardware installation in vacuum chambers.
  • Lead mechanical engineers, stress engineers, and drafters to complete fabrication drawings.
