Job summary

K2 Space is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to work alongside our engineers on large satellite structures and mechanisms. You will apply university knowledge to help develop space hardware in a professional setting at our Torrance HQ, with strong mentorship and ownership of your projects.

The internship is 12 weeks in person, with an hourly pay range of $30-$40, plus potential housing and travel stipends.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering
• 6+ months of experience applying technical engineering skills outside of the university classroom setting (laboratory, research, projects, internships)

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, test, and build mechanical systems and structures
• Own and execute a project that significantly impacts K2’s mission with mentor support
• Use hand calculations, computational methods, and development tests to understand physics behind work
• Engage with a cross-functional team to perform hardware trades relevant to the project
• Solve aerospace challenges by applying knowledge from coursework and extracurriculars
