Job summary

K2 Space invites you to join our mission-driven team in Torrance, CA as a Simulation Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will work closely with engineers to own a software project end-to-end and contribute to on-orbit operations for our spacecraft.

You will develop physics-based models, drivers for simulation hardware, and tooling to enable rapid, high-quality code deployment. The role emphasizes hands-on experience with robotics-grade simulators and advanced control algorithms.

Qualifications

• Development experience in Rust, C++ or similar compiled language.
• Coursework or experience in numerical methods, ordinary differential equations, mechanics, and electricity and magnetism.

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based software models for testing control of spacecraft subsystems.
• Author drivers for simulation hardware.
• Create and utilize robust tools for rapid deployment of quality code.
• Perform data analysis and anomaly investigation to identify and resolve software bugs.
• Support integration and testing of spacecraft subsystems.
