Job summary

Blue Origin, Seattle area, is seeking a Level 2 Software Engineer to join the Lunar Apps team within the Lunar Permanence unit. You will help build tools to store, analyze, and automate engineering data for lunar missions.

You will collaborate with engineers to deliver features using Java, JavaScript, and React, and integrate AWS services like DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, and SNS. Strong CS fundamentals, production experience, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience writing software and deploying it to production environments.
• Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java or C++).
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and common data structures.
• Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to deliver production-ready code.
• Ability to write efficient, working code given clear requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships in a team setting.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.
• A passion for space exploration and a commitment to Blue Origin's mission.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating extensively with other engineers to deliver features from our ambitious roadmap.
• Implementing new features using backend and frontend programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and React.
• Integrating with AWS products such as DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS, and others.
• Participating in code reviews and helping peers write high-quality code.
• Communicating ideas clearly through words, diagrams, and code.
• Diagnosing and resolving issues within existing software and addressing technical challenges as they arise.
