Job summary

Lunar Outpost is hiring a Senior Autonomy Machine Learning Engineer to research, train, and deploy ML models for lunar rovers, C2 platforms, and robotic systems. You will develop multimodal models that connect operator intent and sensor data to robot plans and actions, and deploy them across hardware and simulation environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years in ML, autonomous systems, or intelligent robotics.
• Experience with Python ML frameworks (PyTorch/JAX/TF).
• Strong software engineering with maintainable, testable code.
• Ability to translate research into working prototypes.
• US Person status required.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, train, and evaluate ML architectures for autonomous robotics.
• Develop multimodal models linking operator intent to robot actions.
• Build systems for mission planning, task execution, and summaries.
• Integrate models with robotics platforms and autonomy frameworks.
• Conduct hardware-in-the-loop and field tests to validate capabilities.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and demonstrations.
