Job summary

Lunar Outpost is seeking a Task and Motion Planning Engineer to design and implement autonomy software for lunar rovers and orbital assets. You will lead decentralized planning, integrate software with hardware, and validate with simulations and field testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Robotics Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years developing autonomy software for autonomous systems (navigation, perception, or belief space planning).
• Proficiency in C++, Python; ROS familiarity.
• Strong communication across engineering disciplines.
• U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Lead decentralized decision-making algorithm design for lunar rover systems and orbital assets.
• Develop robust software enabling autonomous operations in lunar environments.
• Collaborate with systems, mechanical, electrical, and thermal teams to integrate autonomy software with hardware.
• Use simulation to improve performance and reliability of autonomous systems.
• Conduct field tests and simulations to validate algorithms and software.
