Job summary

NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to join the Power Electronics Group in Pasadena, CA. You will design, build, test, and deliver flight‑ready power electronics hardware from concept through fabrication and verification, collaborating with senior engineers and project managers.

The role emphasizes hands‑on lab work, environmental testing, and rigorous documentation to ensure high reliability for space hardware while supporting proposal development and flight

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical subject with 1+ years experience; Master’s with 0+ years.
  • Experience with bench top test equipment (DMMs, high current power supplies, electronic loads, probes, oscilloscopes).
  • Ability to test and debug circuits in lab, independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAE tools for design and simulation of power electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Design power electronics systems, subsystems, and test equipment.
  • Coordinate fabrication of prototype and flight hardware.
  • Test prototype and flight hardware to verify operation and meet requirements, including environmental tests.
  • Develop engineering drawings, circuit analyses, test procedures, and review presentations.
  • Collaborate with engineers to solve technical problems during design and testing.
  • Support schedules with section and project managers.
  • Ensure procedures and documentation support high reliability for flight hardware.
