Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled Power Electronics Engineer (Level 3) to develop aerospace-grade power converters for the TeraWave propulsion team and related space programs. You will lead design from requirements through production, focusing on DC-DC converters, control algorithms, and space-qualified components.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing power electronics for aerospace or space applications (DC-DC converters essential).
  • Proficiency in requirements/specifications capture for high-reliability systems.
  • Experience selecting power-stage topologies and both isolated/non-isolated DC-DC converters.
  • Hands-on experience with component selection for demanding environments.
  • Strong skills in controller algorithm design and implementation.
  • Proficient in circuit simulation tools (LTspice, PSpice, SIMetrix) for feasibility and verification.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and translate engineering requirements for space power electronic systems.
  • Design power-stage topology and control schemes for aerospace environments.
  • Select reliable space-qualified components to meet performance criteria.
  • Develop and implement controller algorithms to optimize converter performance.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and verify designs via simulations.
  • Create schematics for power electronic circuits and PCB layouts.
  • Lead board bring-up, testing, and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and systems teams.
