Job summary

Leidos Inc. in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Project Engineer to support OPIR Space Payload programs on the production floor. You will translate program direction into actionable floor tasks and provide leadership with real-time hardware status updates.

The role requires strong communication across Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing, with the ability to surface schedule impacts and drive issues to closure. Active Secret clearance is preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field; 4+ years experience in hardware production
• Experience in hardware execution, production coordination, or systems integration on defense/aerospace programs
• Experience with flight hardware production including assembly, integration, and test of complex electro-optical or electronic systems

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, concise daily hardware status updates to Operations Lead and Production Manager
• Maintain real-time awareness of flight hardware location, build status, and configuration on the production floor
• Coordinate with Manufacturing and Engineering to reflect latest direction at every build step
• Track program-level changes back to Manufacturing and ensure documentation is updated
