Job summary

Lunar Outpost invites a Mission System Cybersecurity Engineer to join a dynamic startup to secure the Lunar Outpost Mission System across lifecycle, aligning with NIST, DFARS, and ITAR requirements. You will decompose security requirements, lead audits, and produce SSPs/POA&Ms while collaborating with engineering, IT, and compliance teams.

Ideal candidates bring cloud/security expertise, risk management skills, and a proactive approach to incident response in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, IT or related field
• 6+ years in cybersecurity, governance, risk management, or compliance (Bachelor's)
• 4+ years in cybersecurity, governance, risk management, or compliance (Master's)
• Experience with security compliance audits and frameworks
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional influence

Responsibilities

• Stand up and maintain security controls aligned to NIST 800-171, DFARS, NIST 800-53 and ITAR
• Decompose cybersecurity requirements into architecture, design, test and verification activities
• Lead internal/external security compliance audits and remediation
• Develop SSPs, POA&Ms and security documentation
• Plan for resilience, upgradeability, and incident response in mission systems
• Collaborate with IT and compliance teams within a GRC framework
