Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Digital Design Engineer to support the Civil Systems Group at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The role centers on FPGA/ASIC design, verification, and hardware development for national space systems, with substantial on-site collaboration across teams.

You will lead design efforts, provide on-site support at contractor facilities, mentor staff, and ensure rigorous testing and documentation across programs, with up to 25% travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 8+ years in digital/microelectronic hardware.
• Experience in FPGA/ASIC design using VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog and CAD tools.
• Experience in high-speed PCB design from schematic capture to layout.
• Excellent communication and ability to work on-site at least 4 days per week; travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and verify FPGA/ASIC, boards, units, and systems for digital electronics applications.
• Perform independent verification and validation of contractor designs to ensure requirements conformance.
• Develop firmware, software, and STE for hardware testing.
• Provide on-site presence for technical meetings, reviews, and hardware testing.
• Lead technical teams or work independently to ensure resource alignment and project success.
• Conduct risk assessments and resolve anomalies for FPGA/ASIC and digital hardware.
• Prepare and brief technical reports and project updates to customers and management.
• Mentor staff and interns on design processes and best practices.
