Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Digital Design Engineer (Project Engineer- General Integrated Circuit Design) to support the Civil Systems Group at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. You will design, model, verify, and test FPGA/ASIC and digital boards for national space systems, collaborating with internal and external teams.

Role requires 8+ years in digital/microelectronic hardware, HDL design, and strong leadership. On-site presence is required 4 days/week with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with 8+ years in digital/microelectronic hardware.
• Experience with FPGA/ASIC design using VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
• Experience in high-speed PCB design from schematic to layout.
• Strong lab troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for digital/mixed-signal circuits.
• Ability to lead multi-disciplinary design, manufacturing, test and integration teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, model, simulate, verify FPGA/ASIC, boards, and subsystems.
• Perform independent verification/validation of contractor designs.
• Develop firmware/software and support test equipment for hardware testing.
• Provide on-site presence and support at contractor facilities for reviews and testing.
• Lead technical teams and mentor staff on design processes.
• Prepare technical reports and briefings for customers and management.
