Job summary

Overview Energy in Northern Virginia is hiring an Electrical Engineer to design, build, and test electronics for flight and ground hardware. You will work daily with mechanical, embedded software, and systems engineers at our Ashburn facility.

This generalist role covers schematic capture, BOM management, bench Bring-up, supplier coordination, and documentation. A strong background in analog/digital circuits and embedded microcontrollers is required; on-site work is expected.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 2–5+ years of hands-on electrical hardware experience. Internships and co-ops count.
• At least one piece of hardware you designed, built, or tested end-to-end.
• Solid fundamentals in analog and digital circuits, plus embedded experience to work with microcontrollers and common communication buses.
• Schematic capture experience in Altium, KiCad (preferred), or a similar tool.
• Comfort on the bench with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and power supplies.
• Experience with external suppliers or contractors on programs.
• Ability to work onsite at our Northern Virginia facility.

Responsibilities

• Design and capture schematics for analog, digital, and power boards.
• Select components, build BOMs, and manage fabrication/assembly.
• Bring up PCBs with test equipment and debug against requirements.
• Support systems engineering on requirements, architecture, and interfaces.
• Design and document wire harnesses and interconnects.
• Manage electronics suppliers and contractors, review statements of work.
• Run power budgets and thermal/EMI checks, apply derating and aerospace practices.
• Write test procedures and scripts for measurements and data analysis.
• Close out hardware anomalies with root-cause and corrective actions.
• Produce complete design reports, ICDs, and test procedures for future engineers.
