Job summary

Overview Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, build, and test the electronics behind our flight and ground hardware. You’ll report to the lead electrical engineer and collaborate with mechanical, embedded software, and systems engineers on site in Ashburn, VA.

This generalist role covers schematic capture, PCB bring-up, supplier management, and test automation as we push from bench to space-qualified hardware. Onsite work at the Northern Virginia facility is required.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. in Electrical/Computer Engineering or closely related field.
• 2–5+ years hands-on electrical hardware experience.
• At least one hardware designed, built, or tested end-to-end and explainable on whiteboard.
• Strong fundamentals in analog and digital circuits with embedded experience.
• Schematic capture experience in Altium or KiCad.
• Onsite work at our Northern Virginia facility.
• Experience with external suppliers/contractors is a plus.
• Experience in space/aerospace/high-reliability programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and capture schematics for analog, digital, and power boards.
• Select components, build BOMs, and oversee fabrication/assembly.
• Bring up PCBs with test gear and debug to requirements.
• Support systems engineering on requirements and interfaces.
• Design and document wire harnesses and interconnects.
• Manage electronics suppliers and review statements of work.
• Run power budgets and thermal/EMI checks; apply derating for space.
• Write test procedures and automation scripts for measurements.
• Drive hardware issues to root cause and corrective actions.
• Write design reports, ICDs, and tests for knowledge transfer.
