Job summary

Overview Energy in Ashburn, VA is hiring an Electrical Engineer to design, build, and test electronics for flight and ground hardware. You’ll report to the lead electrical engineer and collaborate daily with mechanical, embedded software, and systems engineers.

This generalist role covers schematic capture, board bring-up, and supplier management; onsite work at our Ashburn facility is required to execute this role effectively.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
• 2–5+ years of hands-on electrical hardware experience.
• At least one hardware designed, built, or tested end-to-end and able to walk through on a whiteboard.
• Solid fundamentals in analog and digital circuits; embedded experience with microcontrollers and common buses.
• Schematic capture experience in Altium, KiCad (preferred), or similar tool.
• Comfort on the bench with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and power supplies.
• Experience with external suppliers or contractors.
• Ability to work onsite at our Northern Virginia facility.

Responsibilities

• Design and capture schematics for analog, digital, and power boards; sensors and interfaces.
• Select components, build BOMs, and see boards through fabrication and assembly.
• Bring up new PCBs with test equipment; debug and characterize against requirements.
• Support systems engineering on requirements, architecture, and interfaces.
• Design and document wire harnesses and interconnects; ICDs.
