- Develop and apply technical skills to real-world problems in constellation design, multi-objective optimization, and astrodynamics
- Support analysis and design of current and future space system architectures
- Develop, mature, and use analysis software tools for modeling and simulation tasks
- Conduct technical deep dives, trade studies, performance assessments, and related analyses
- Develop and present technically accurate presentations and reports communicating analysis results and recommended solutions
- Collaborate with Aerospace technical personnel across multiple locations
- Perform multiple simultaneous projects with varying internship tasking
- Receive training and mentoring from full-time staff members
Requirements
- Enrolled full time or accepted at an accredited college/university degree program pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in aerospace, astronautical, or mechanical engineering, physics, operations research, mathematics, or a related field of science or engineering
- Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a Master’s or Ph.D. degree program after completion of the internship
- Coursework or relevant experience in astrodynamics/orbital mechanics topics and space-based modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Proficiency in one or more of: Python, MATLAB, C, C++
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and in teams
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
- US citizenship required to obtain a security clearance
- Transcripts required
- Research or professional experience leading or working as a member of a technical team in the described areas
- Prior space-related work experience for a US government agency or contractor
- Prior experience with Aerospace Corporation modeling and simulation tools, including SOAP, GRIPS, and Revisit
- Familiarity with national security space or intelligence mission areas
- Coursework or relevant experience in advanced mathematical topics, modern software development, integration, and testing practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt quickly to changing priorities, and balance conflicting project demands
- Current and active Top Secret/SCI clearance with a CI polygraph
